Leeds Trinity University

Leeds Trinity University is a campus university located a few miles outside of Leeds City Centre. There are around 3000 students, most of whom are undergraduates, which contributes to the great community feel that the university is renowned for. A recognised provider of high quality education, Leeds Trinity University is in the Top 10% of UK universities for teaching excellence (Sunday Times University Guide 2013) and the Top 10 in the UK for student satisfaction with feedback and assessment (Guardian University Guide 2013).

Founded in 1966 as two separate Catholic teacher training colleges, Trinity for women and All Saints for men, Leeds Trinity University subsequently merged and expanded its degree provision over the years to become a university renowned for its high quality teaching. Leeds Trinity University was granted full university status in December 2012.

The university continues to have an excellent reputation for its primary and secondary teacher training courses, and has built on this strength with its Centre for Children, Young People and Families, which provides a range of degree options for professionals working in today’s multi-agency children’s services environment. It has diversified the degree courses it offers, and students can choose between a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and foundation degrees in a variety of subjects, including Journalism, Media, Business, Marketing, Humanities, Sports, Health and Nutrition. In particular, its Centre for Journalism at Leeds Trinity has built up an enviable reputation for the high priority it gives to vocational relevance and employability, and is the current holder of the BBC North Education Partnership Achievement award, given in recognition of our 'inspirational' journalism teaching. In addition, Leeds Trinity news trainees have won the Partnership's Journalism award in two years out of the preceding three. Courses are delivered by professional journalists with industry experience backed up by superb broadcasting, editing and recording facilities in the Media Centre – these resources are also available to businesses which require media training for their staff.

Leeds Trinity University is employer-focused and works closely with employers to address the skills needs of today’s workforce. It is the only university that offers professional work placements with every degree, thanks to its extensive links with employers. All of the University’s degrees have a strong professional focus, and the University has also recently launched a number of pioneering 2 year accelerated degrees starting in 2013, which will let students graduate sooner and fast-track their career. As a result, the University has been exceeding national employability benchmarks for a decade, with the latest figures revealing that 93% of our 2011 graduates were in work or further study six months after graduating. (HESA Destination of Higher Leavers Survey 2011).

Leeds Trinity University has invested heavily in its campus, with recent developments including new student accommodation, teaching and learning facilities. These facilities are available for use by businesses and other organisations looking for a convenient and well-equipped conference venue, while a multi-million pound sports centre which opened in 2007 and a 3G Astroturf Pitch which opened in 2012 is open for use by the whole community.
