Commenting after the signing of a new ‘White Rose Agreement‘, by the Mayors of West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, and York and North Yorkshire, Yorkshire Universities Executive Director, Dr Peter O’Brien, said:
“We welcome today’s news that the current three Mayors in Yorkshire have given a commitment to work collaboratively on key economic, social and environmental issues that impact the lives of people and communities, and the efforts of business and public services, whether these are based in Bradford, Sheffield or York. Strengthening cooperation between the Mayors and their respective Mayoral Combined Authorities (MCAs), is logical, and will see Mayors and MCAs use their devolved powers and responsibilities collectively for the widest benefit. Yorkshire Universities looks forward to working with the Mayors and our local government partners to help achieve the ambitions in this new agreement. And for the commitment to collaboration to be extended to Hull and East Yorkshire shortly.”
