It has been announced today (Monday 22 June) that Professor Charlie Jeffery CBE, Vice-Chancellor at the University of York, and Chair of Yorkshire Universities (YU), will take up a new role as Vice-Chancellor at the University of Southampton from October.
Commenting on today’s announcement, Dr Peter O’Brien, YU Executive Director, said:
“I would like to congratulate Professor Charlie Jeffery on the news of his appointment at the University of Southampton.
Charlie took up the role as Chair of YU shortly after the launch of our 2025–2030 Strategy. In this time, Charlie has driven YU’s partnerships, and provided strategic leadership to our ambitions of unlocking investment, jobs and growth, and creating new economic opportunities for people and communities in Yorkshire.
I would like to thank Charlie for his contributions since he first joined the YU Board in 2019, and for bringing his experience and leadership to the role of Chair. I wish him all the very best in his next position.”
The process to appoint a new YU Chair will begin in due course.
