Today (Thursday 10 September), Universities UK launched the Future Jobs Roadmap, setting out seven recommendations to boost graduate employability across the country, encourage growth and meet the UK’s future skills needs. The roadmap responds to the growing challenges facing both young people and employers, drawing on insights from 13 roundtables involving 200 employers, 30 universities, and a survey of 500 business leaders.
Commenting on the launch, Yorkshire Universities Executive Director Dr Peter O’Brien said:
“I welcome today’s publication of the Universities UK Future Jobs Roadmap, as it both reinforces existing good practice, but it also identifies new ways in which we can strengthen graduate employment and employability.
Two elements will be critical to the success of this plan. First, that it is underpinned by increased collaboration within higher education (HE), and between the HE sector and other partners. Second, that the recommendations land and stick effectively within localities and regional eco-systems, which will be critical to delivering on the ground the impacts and outcomes that lead to increased job opportunities for graduates across all parts of the country.”
